Books
The Drill Hall Library catalogue contains all the books currently held in the Drill Hall Library. Help and advice is available on using the catalogue. You need to use the catalogue to locate material in the Drill Hall. The Business and Tourism collections cover several classmarks which are located in different areas of the library.

University of Kent Electronic Journals
The University subscribes to a vast number of journals in an electronic format. Many of the subscriptions are available in a full-text format. To access e-journal subscriptions please visit Journals
A database is a searchable collection of records. Most of the databases subscribed to by the Information and Library Services are bibliographical. The records in this type of database are usually full-text journal articles and/or references to articles.

Business Source Premier (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Provides access to over 8,000 full-text business publications (including 1,100 scholarly academic journals). It additionally includes over 10,000 company and country profile reports. DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)
A multi-disciplinary database of freely available, peer-reviewed full-text journals. See in particular the subdirectory of Business and Economics titles.
Emerald (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Provides access to full-text articles from approximately 100 international business and management journals published by Emerald.
ESE (Economics Search Engine)
An index to the content of over 10,000 dedicated economics web sites. Includes links to many full-text documents. (Sponsored by the American Economic Association.)
European Central Bank (ECB)
Gives access to a wide range of themed data resources, including: Monetary Operations; Prices, Output, Demand & Labour; Money, Banking & Financial Markets; Government Finance; and Exchange Rates.
Eurostat
Provides data compiled by the Statistical Office of the European Communities. The data is arranged into several themes: General & Regional Statistics; Economy & Finance; Population & Social Conditions; Industry, Trade & Services; Agriculture & Fisheries; External Trade; Transport; Environment & Energy; and Science & Technology.
FT.com (Financial Times)
There is no news except business news; everthing else is just gossip. Sign up for the free Registered service to obtain access to full-text articles from the current five years.
FT.com Annual Reports Service
Gives access to the full-text of a select range of UK company annual reports. Organised by company name and industrial sector. Although this is a free service, you will have to register in order to receive downloads of the reports.
JSTOR: Business Collection (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
An archive of scholarly journals. (In consequence of which, the most recent issues of any title are usually not available.)
LexisNexis Butterworths (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Includes a company database plus an extensive national and regional newspaper archive. Includes also financial reporting standards: from the alphabetical Sources list, select Deloitte iGAAP or Deloitte ukGAAP as appropriate.
Mintel (Oxygen) (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Contains several analytical series of market and product reports. For a brief introduction, see our help sheet (PDF).
MyiLibrary (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
The Library Service's repository of full-text electronic books. Includes numerous business titles.
Orbis (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Provides company accounting data. International coverage. Multiple search criteria: industry; financials; ratios; employee numbers; etc. Enables the comparative, sectoral analysis of company performance ('peer review' reports).
RePEc (Research Papers in Economics)
An international collaboration of authors seeking to disseminate research in economics. The database contains full-text working papers and journal articles, many of which are freely available.
Sage Journals Online (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Provides access to the full text of individual Sage journals. These comprise many business and related technological and social science titles.
Science Direct (Access via the Staff and Student Portal)
Contains several themed subsets of full-text journals. These include: Business, Management and Accounting; and Economics, Econometrics and Finance.
Tourism Insights
Please note that to access this database from off campus, you will need to set up a link via the University's proxy server.

Databases are an excellent means of keeping abreast of developments in your field of study, and provide either the full text of journal articles or a bibliographic reference and abstract.

Emerald Insight A collection of over 200 titles from MCB University Press.
Fame Company reports and information service.
FT.com Either via the FT web site or go to General Business File (InfoTrac) and use ‘Journal search’.
General Business File ASAP (from Gale/InfoTrac) Full text of over 1900 titles, mainly in business & economics plus indexing only for over 600 more.
GMID - Global Market Information Database (Euromonitor) Marketing and business intelligence on countries, companies, markets and consumers. Statistics and profiles for 205 countries, market reports and market size data, consumer lifestyle analysis and forecasts, company profiles; Euromonitor International.

CBI (Confederation of British Industry) - Describes itself as "the premier lobbying organisation for UK business on national and international issues".
BIS: Department for Business Innovation & Skills - The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is making a difference by supporting sustained growth and higher skills across the economy.
Europa: Gateway to the European Union - Given the scope of this resource, it usefully contains a sophisticated search function.
Federation of Small Businesses - Principal lobbying group in the UK for small businesses. Includes an extensive Document Library.
intute: Social Sciences - Provides free access to high quality resources on the Internet. Each resource has been evaluated and categorised by subject specialists based at UK universities. We aim to match resources to the business curriculum and the needs of researchers. Our target audience is students, staff and researchers in higher and further education.

The Advertising Association A federation of 31 trade bodies and organisations representing the advertising and promotional marketing industries including advertisers, agencies, media and support services.
British Library: Business & IP Centre The Business & IP Centre is designed to support SME and entrepreneurs.
British Library of Political and Economic Science The working Library of the London School of Economics and Political Science and one of the largest libraries in the world devoted to the economic and social sciences
SCONUL Access SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It enables staff, research students, full time postgraduates and part-time, distance learning and placement students to borrow material from other libraries.
