Books
The Drill Hall Library catalogue contains all the books currently held in the Drill Hall Library. Help and advice is available on using the catalogue. You need to use the catalogue to locate material in the Drill Hall. The Computing collection covers several classmarks.

Printed Journals
Use the Drill Hall Library catalogue to search for printed journals held in the Drill Hall, these are shelved in the journals section and are arranged on the shelves by subject.
Electronic Journals
You can also use a range of electronic journals which can be accessed via Journals. Please contact me to arrange a short session to get you started using the subscribed electronic services or see the Databases section of this guide for further details.
Databases
A database is a searchable collection of records many of which will link you to the full text of an article, report etc.
A full list of electronic databases available to you as a University of Kent student are available from Online resources. You will need your University of Kent username and password to access these databases either from the Drill Hall Library or from home.
Here is a list of some useful databases for Social work:
ACM Digital Library Magazines and journals from the ACM. Includes full text of all ACM titles (journals, magazines, newsletters, etc).
IEEE Xplore from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Access to the full text of all the journal titles and conference series on the IEEE site. Xplore is a powerful search service to identify articles by author, title and abstract.
ScienceDirect Elsevier science journals. We have access to the full text of approximately 1500 titles in this service. A comprehensive search service is available including searching the full text of all articles.
SIAM Journals from the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). Where we have a subscription to the paper version of a title we have access to the full text online.
Web of Knowledge Full text available for some articles using Article Linker.
Wiley InterScience Now contains all Blackwell titles.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., - IEEE IEEE is the world's largest technical society, bringing members access to the industry's most essential technical information, networking opportunities, career development tools, and many other exclusive benefits.
Intute: science, engineering & technology The Intute Computing Gateway provides free access to high quality resources on the Internet. Each resource has been evaluated and categorised by subject specialists based at UK universities. Our target audience is students, staff and researchers in higher and further education.
Other Libraries
British Library 14 million books, 920,000 journal and newspaper titles, 58 million patents, 3 million sound recordings and more besides.
SCONUL Access SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It enables staff, research students, full time postgraduates and part-time, distance learning and placement students to borrow material from other libraries.
