Using Databases

A database is a searchable collection of records many of which will link you to the full text of an article, report etc.

A full list of electronic databases available to you as a University of Kent student are available from the Templeman Library Online Journal Host Services page. You will need your University of Kent username and password to access these databases either from the Drill Hall Library or from home.

Some useful databases for Fine Art include:

Academic Search Complete

ADIT (Art & Design Index to Theses)

Arts and Humanities Citation Index

Art Source

ArtSTOR Digital Library

Index of Christian Art

Princeton Index to Christian Art

Project MUSE

For access to these databases (and others) visit the E-resources A-Z page.

If you'd like help in using any of the databases listed, then please see the section Training on this subject guide for details of workshops or to book one-to-one training.

New Services on Trial

The Library are continuously monitoring the availability of new information services. From time to time we will arrange a trial of a service so possible users (staff and students) can try it out and give us feedback on how useful and usable it is. These trials are for a limited time (usually a month).

There are currently no services on trial.
