Databases & Electronic Resources

A database is a searchable collection of records. The records in this type of database are often fulltext journal articles and/or references to articles

To access the databases you must log in to the University of Greenwich Portal and select the My Library & IT tab

The most useful databases for your subject are listed below. Simply select the database link from the A-Z list provided list via the portal. Remember you must be in the University of Greenwich portal to access these databases in full unless stated otherwise below.

Science Direct - A fulltext database of the Elsevier Science journals collection plus journals from a number of prestigious organisations. This is a very good place to start your bibliographic searching in all areas of science.

Web of Knowledge - This will give you access to Web Of Science with its unique citation searching feature. Not many articles are in fulltext but it does give you access to the Endnote Web software which allows you to store and manage all of your reeferences effectively. Pub Med - Freely available at http://www.pubmed.org so there is no need to log into the portal for access. It is recommended to register with PubMed for the best available options. PubMed provides access to bibliographic information that includes MEDLINE as well as some additional life science journals that submit full text to PubMedCentral. A very strong source of information for biomedical sciences.
